Custom email templates allow you to fully customise the HTML emails that Annature sends to recipients when they receive an envelope or when an envelope is completed. This is an advanced feature designed for organisations that want complete control over the look and feel of their email communications.
You can upload custom templates for your entire organisation, or configure different templates for specific groups — allowing each brand or business unit to have its own unique email design.
Custom email templates are considered an advanced customisation option. We recommend only using this feature if you have prior experience developing and testing email templates across a range of email clients. If you're unsure about compatibility or would like assistance testing your templates, please contact support before using this feature.
The Custom Email Templates page can be accessed by any Annature Admin by navigating to Settings > Custom email templates.
Annature supports two types of custom email templates:
Envelope request — The email sent to recipients when they are asked to review and sign an envelope.
Envelope completion — The email sent to recipients when an envelope has been completed.
Each template type can be configured independently, and you can use a custom template for one while leaving the other as the default Annature template.
The Custom Email Templates page displays:
Organisation — Shows your organisation's email template settings. Click Open to configure templates that apply to all envelopes sent from your organisation (unless overridden by a group template).
Groups — If you have groups configured, each group is listed with its own template settings. Click Open next to a group to configure templates specific to that group.

For each entry, you can see whether the Envelope request and Envelope completion templates are set to Default (using Annature's standard template) or have a custom template uploaded.
To upload a custom email template:
Navigate to Settings > Custom email templates.
Click Open next to your organisation or the group you want to configure.
Under Email templates, click Browse files next to either Envelope request or Envelope completion.
Select your custom HTML file to upload.

Once uploaded, the template will be used for all relevant emails sent from that organisation or group.
Custom email templates support Mustache bindings, which allow you to dynamically insert organisation, group, and envelope information into your template. The following bindings are available:
{{endpoint}} — Required. Annature uses this to inject a unique URL for each recipient to action the envelope.
{{name}} — The envelope name.
{{message}} — The envelope message. If the recipient has a private message, it will be used in place of the envelope message.
{{sender}} — The sender's account name.
{{business}} — The organisation's business name. If the sender belongs to a group, the group's business name will take precedence.
{{email}} — The sender's email address. If the sender belongs to a group, the group's email address will take precedence.
{{logo}} — The organisation's logo URL. If the sender belongs to a group, the group's logo will take precedence.
{{colour}} — The organisation's brand colour. If the sender belongs to a group, the group's colour will take precedence.
The {{endpoint}} binding is required in your template — without it, recipients will not have a link to access their envelope.
To remove a custom template and revert to Annature's default email design, open the organisation or group settings and click the remove option next to the uploaded template. The template status will return to Default.
