The Annature API gives you programmatic access to the Annature platform. Most of what you can do in the dashboard, you can do through the API: create and send envelopes, place fields, run identity verifications, and get notified the moment something happens.
The API is free to use. There are no API fees or platform charges, so you only pay for what you send, the same as in the dashboard.
How the API works
REST and JSON — the API uses standard HTTP methods and status codes, and sends and receives JSON.
Base URL — all requests go to
https://api.annature.com.au/.Versioned — every endpoint starts with
v1. New optional fields and webhook events may be added tov1over time, but breaking changes will only ever ship as a new version.Secure — every request must be made over HTTPS and include your API keys.
Getting your API keys
Each request is authenticated with two keys: a public key (ID) and a private key (Key).
In Annature, go to Settings > Developers.
Click Create new key in the top-right.
Name the key and click Create.
Copy the ID and Key.
Send both with every request using the X-Annature-Id and X-Annature-Key headers.
Treat your private key like a password. Don't share it, commit it to source control, or use it in client-side code such as a browser or mobile app.

Building with AI
Working with Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or another coding assistant? Point it at our AI-ready API summary:
https://docs.annature.com.au/llms.txtIt's a plain-text summary of every endpoint: what it does, its parameters, and what it returns. Give your AI the link, for example:
Read https://docs.annature.com.au/llms.txt to learn the Annature API, then write me a script that sends a test envelope with one recipient and a signature field.
